HipHopHead of the Month

HipHopHead of the Month August 2010

In a time where both underground and industry rappers from the area are always trying to "bring the West back", the Nation of Hip-Hop Heads have been granted the opportunity to hear artists from not only the West Coast but all over. However, West Coast Hip-Hop has been back on the rise as a prominent force in Hip-Hop Culture.
In particular we, the Executive Board, are pleased to introduce another West Coast MC that is worthy of the title, Hip-Hop Head of The Month. With that said, we bring you Khao.

His bio reads,

Khao, Born
and
raised
in
Compton, California
brings
a
new
flavor
to
West
Coast
rap.
Dubbed
the
“Mayor of
Compton”
by
west

DJ
Quik, Khao
has
been
rapping
since
the
age
of
12.
Growing
up on
the
streets
of
Compton
gangs
heavily
influenced
him.
However , he
makes
note
that
he
is
a
rapper before
anything
else
and
that
is
a
difference
 that
Khao
wants
to
make
very
clear.

In
2004
he
realized
that
rapping
was
truly
his
passion
and he
has
been
focused
and
driven
 on
success
ever
since.
Khao’s
 influences
 come
from
 much
 of
the
West
Coast
legends
such
 as
Dj
Quik,
Dr.

Snoop

and
many
others
that

is
reminiscent
of
2Pac,
Jadakiss
and
Fabolous
combined
with

of
 Compton.
Upon
graduating
high
school,
Khao
 took
his
style
 to
the
South
 to
attend
Winston‐Salem
 State
University.
There,
he
was
able
to
develop
 his
individual
style
by
incorporating
 the
 gangster
rap
of
the
west
with
the
cool
bounce
of
southern
rap
and
the
swagger
of
the
East.
He
 prides
himself
on
being
adaptable
and
flexible
as
an
artist.

“Without being versatile you are nothing as an artist I want to reach different audiences. Not everybody likes the West Coast style, or the East Coast Style, or the Southern style, so I mixed all of them. My music is gangsta, its Southern, and its punch lines like the East. I feel mixing them gives me an advantage over other up and coming artists because I can speak to more than just my hood, I can reach all avenues of Hip‐Hop and not many artists are doing that"
 says
 Khao.

Khao
 is
one
of

HipHopHead of the Month July 2010

As a Nation created from the raw passion and talent of aspiring MC's, producers,
and fans alike, it is always good when we find artists that have that "it-factor" about them. They have a focus and an aim that can't be shaken. They have a conviction in their music that can be heard through every bar of every verse. They just strive to be nothing but the best and it is with this that we introduce you to an artist whose passion and talent just can't be ignored. And it is with this that we introduce West Coast MC, Pro-verb.

His bio reads:

Pumped out of the heart of Los Angeles, Pro-verb has bled hip-hop since his childhood days. Now he is making his presence felt in the hip-hop community through a viral campaign driven by sick lyricism and healthy dose of hard-hitting tracks. As quoted by legendary lyricist, Chino XL, “I ‘ride’ with Pro-verb all day.”

Currently, Pro-verb is pushing his mixtape Good Business Vol. 1. Gearing his shows and radio air time around promoting Good Business and Good Business Vol. 2 the Produce Section (a beat CD) as well. Also, “Verb” is promoting the 20-minute monster of a track entitled “the Workout” produced by super producer, Focus…of a.Fam Ent, Inc. (formerly of Aftermath Entertainment).

Pro-verb has a rich background in hip hop. From the age of 15 he worked side by side with Focus…eventually being inspired to produce tracks as well. In 2005, he, along with long time partner Rockwell Smarts, were featured on the album Back 2 Basics executive produced by Sway (of MTV) and King Tech. Pro-verb was also featured on Chino xl’s album Warning, Focus… It Had to Happen and Dedicated.

In conjunction with a.Fam ENT, Inc. Pro-verb has started his own company, Heat Rox ENT. Heat Rox ENT strives to create a brand known for making feel good music no matter what genre they venture into. Good Business Vol. 1 is the perfect example of how business is conducted at Heat Rox/a.Fam Ent. Simply put on his song the Workout, “…and that’s what I came to do y’all. Franchise the flow, make music to move y’all.” Focus… called Pro-verb, his “favorite rapper.” The Truth from Tapwire Magazine was quoted saying, “Verb is dope. One of the most underrated in hip-hop definitely. He deserves every good thing that comes to him.”

Keep your eyes and ears open for more Pro-verb in the near future. With the Good Business Mixtape Series and “the Workout” as his tools,

Verb plans on making a statement that will ring in the annals of hip-hop for years to come.

Well in accordance with Article 17 Section 4-2 of the Constitution of the Nation of Hip-Hop Heads, we hereby declare you, Pro-Verb, "Hip-Hop Head of the Month" on this day, the first of July in this new year of 2010.

"Pro-Verb is a genuis when it comes to creating songs...when i first ran into him via twitter he sent me the link to his track "The WorkOut" and thats exactly whut it was a lyrical exercise...overall he is whut were lookin for cuz he is the West Coast or "The New West Coast" as i like to call em"

HipHopHead of the Month June 2010

Hip-Hop is a culture created by fans and artists alike. There are many different types of styles and/or sub-cultures that exist inside of it as well. You have the East coast, the mid-west, the “Dirty” south and last but not least, the West coast. Each has their own particular sound that defines that region. However, there are some artists that, despite where they are from, define their own sound and the type of music that they want to make. It is with this that we introduce Flo’z.

Flo’z is a 27-year old MC that hails from the West Coast; Inglewood, California to be exact. He specializes in creating three main types of music: Rap, Hip-Hop, and “other” although he focuses mainly on the latter. He is musically inclined, being able to create music in most environments. However, he makes it clear that he focuses mainly on his voice as his instrument of choice. Using both his voice and whatever other instrument of his choosing, Flo’z is steady trying to achieve the idea of “doing the un-do-able”.

“One attribute I admire most about my creative side is that I like to work on projects that I have not ever before seen. Doing the un-done-able, if I may.” He commented. “Lakers music. College music. Political music. Dance music. Relaxation music. Personalize music. Or a combination of all, even those not listed above, for the ultimate experience. Provided I have the tools, I will be able to, at any time, create the music of choice, of expression, of cause and effect.”

Well in accordance with Article 17 Section 4-2 of the Constitution of the Nation of Hip-Hop Heads, we hereby declare you, Flo’z, "Hip-Hop Head of the Month" on this day, the first of June in this new year of 2010.
"Flo'z is a well rounded eMCee who can be grimey one minute and political the next...his style sets him apart from any other artist on the west coast [in my opinion]...basically hes not afraid to step outside of the box and thats why he is HipHopHead of the Month for June 2010...#salute"
Mr. Infamy
El Presidente of The Nation of HipHopHeads
Flo’z has worked on a number of different projects including both albums and mixtapes. He has also written songs and worked with many up-and-coming Hip-Hop and R&B singers and vocalists. He has also produced for different singers and video editors. Despite this, he has his own producer that handles the bulk of his full length album releases.

“Even though I can produce beats, write songs, record and mixdown audio, I'm careful not to wear too many hats. My work is in the booth in front of microphone recording or sitting/standing anywhere with a pen and paper in hand.” Said Flo’z.

He plans to work on more than 100 projects. Among them, he plans to create one based on the language, customs, and experiences of another culture. However, he doesn’t plan to stop there.

“But that is only the tip of the iceberg in regards to ideas I have in the realm of audio and music.”

Speaking on where he’d like to go with his music, Flo’z says “it's quite basic where I would like to go: to a place that provides the tools for me and other like-minded creative individuals to learn, study, and output music/audio projects that benefit society as a whole and each individual participant. Being able to pay bills and feel financially stable wouldn't be too bad either. Just a thought. Something to look out for. And sometimes, that is all any artist needs.”

Flo’z has different websites where you can find his various styles of music which you can find below. He has a degree in Psychology and works in Security, tutoring, and coaching. His main interests are music, sports, and life.

HipHopHead of the Month May 2010

Despite what the media tries to make out of it, Hip-Hop is a culture created
and embraced by artist's and MC's of every ethnic and religious background. It is this very reason that Hip-Hop Culture is steadily evolving and growing. There has been a level of balance created that always proves to change the game one way or the other and gives us new MC's that all bring something new to the table. No matter their color or Creed, we embrace them and their appreciation for their craft. And it is with that said that we, The Nation of Hip-Hop Heads, bring you an MC that is definitely a game changer and a "Trendsetter".
His name is Sin City and he is a Hip-Hop MC that hails from New Hampshire.

His bio reads:

Sincity is a hip hop artist from New Hampshire who is going to redefine your perception of what hip hop is. In an industry filled with sell outs, fakes, and watered down radio trash, Sin continues to make music from the soul, for the soul. Not sticking to the format for what others have made successful, he is working hard on putting classic hip hop back to the fore front, while at the same time not sacrificing his artistic integrity.

Born and raised in New Hampshire, Sin got into hip hop in the early to mid 90’s shortly after hearing The Fugees “The Score” album and Wu-Tang’s “Enter the 36 Chambers” cd. Once he heard those albums it was a rap, as he fell in love with the sound and the culture from then on. During his high school days he was in a group called “Masters of the Universe”, which wasn’t anything taken too serious, but got him interested in writing and producing his own material. He spent the next 4-5 years on a hiatus working on his flow, delivery, and wordplay while also picking up producing, as who better to make the sound he was looking for than himself?

In 2005 he linked up with Stryme 1 and L. Birdy and formed the group, The Movement, which turned into TMB(The Movement Boyz). Although Sin enjoyed rapping, and was a main contributor, he played his position and was more the man behind the music, getting it in as the main producer and engineer for the group. Numerous classics were recorded from 2005-2008, including the unreleased mixtapes “Summer Heat” and “Promote the Hustle”. During that time TMB had taken on 3 new members, Hatred, Mindz, and Cees AG.

In 2009 TMB was poised for great things, as the foundation had been laid for the future. Two new members, S.O.A.K and Systamatic had been brought on board to help solidify the team, as Hatred had moved back to Brooklyn, and Cees AG was focusing on his own music and production. TMB was doing 2-3 shows a month, including venues in Boston and Brooklyn, and was quickly putting the name out. They released a mixtape entitled “The Mag 7”, which included bangers from the front to back, but just wasn’t promoted and distributed properly. As 2010 came into view they were preparing for a new mixtape and lining up shows to push the product out. Unfortunatly, due to some internal disagreements about finances and the direction of the group, Sincity left TMB to pursue a solo career that would not hold back his vision of what hip hop is about.

Now on his own, Sin is focused on making music his way and not giving into the industry standard, and instead of changing for the game, he is here to change the game. Having finished his first mixtape, “Sincity-Takeover Music”, he is currently at work on mixtape number two. “Takeover Music”, is simply in introduction into the bars and thought process of Sincity. With a following reaching past New Hampshire, and extending into the tri-state region, Sin continues to just make music how he makes it, what he considers “feel” music, music that makes you feel everything he is saying.

Well in accordance with Article 17 Section 4-2 of the Constitution of the Nation of Hip-Hop Heads, we hereby declare you, Sin City, "Hip-Hop Head of The Month" on this day, the first of May in this new year of 2010.

Sin City definitely brings some new, yet refreshing to the table. He is focused on making REAL music and not something watered down, substituting substance in the place of popularity. However, he still brings a sick flow to the table and, like other artists and MC's who've claimed the title of, "Hip-Hop head of The Month", has wowed the executive board of the Nation of Hip-Hop Heads, including "El Presidente" himself, Mr. Infamy.

"Sin City is a rappers rapper...his bars are crazy and his flow compliments his style as an artist...this goes to show u that there are talented artist in New England"
Mr. Infamy El Presidente

All citizens of the Nation of Hip-Hop Heads need to do yourselves a favor and stop sleeping on him. He deserves our utmost respect as an MC as well as an overall grinder. May the nation congratulate him and wish him well in all of his endeavors both music or otherwise.

-Executive Board, The Nation of Hip-Hop Heads

HipHopHead of the Month April 2010

As fans of Hip-Hop, we all respect artists who bring nothing but realness to the table. Artists who don't follow the industry scene and what's going on inside of it. These artists strive to make their own music using their own methods and putting forth their best effort to create a product that both satisfies them and supports the culture that they know and love. These artists keep it real with themselves and their fans. These artists need to be commended for their efforts and there is one artist in mind who has caught the eye of the Board of Executives as "real Hip-Hop" material.

With that said, may we introduce South Philly Mel.

His bio reads:

Hip Hop, Rap artist Jameel Swinton aka South Philly Mel is a true crowd-catching emcee born and raised in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. “Philly is and will always be my home, South Philly to be exact. I love it there!”

At 29 years of age, South Philly Mel is no stranger to writing, mixing and producing music. Mel’s family was big into music and he was inspired by the musical education he was exposed to via them. “Growing up in the Wilson Park projects, it was an everyday thing for my family to sit around and listen to music…”

This musical exposure consisted of everything from Sam Cook to The Whispers, and Earth Wind & Fire. Other groups like New Edition were also popular in his house, especially with his mother. Through his uncles, he was turned on to New Age music, i.e., Sting, U2, Peter Gabriel, and Tracy Chapman. In terms of Hip Hop, once he heard a Rakim song, the rest was history.

“I always made-up little raps since I was a child,” Mel says. However, it was 1992 that he started recording music in a friend’s basement on a tape recorder. He formed a group with several friends and they began to create hardcore East Coast Rap that was popular at the time. They mimicked the groups that were out in those years, groups like Wu Tang. Those street years were rough times for Mel, but musically they were productive. During this time Mel was offered a deal on a label, but due to lack of familial consent, he had to turn it down.

After time passed, he was refueled to create as Nas, Biggie Smalls, and Jay-z started putting out tracks that hit his soul. In 1998 he started recording professionally in studios. He became a popular name in school and in his area. His crew started a company called Off The Hook Entertainment and he went by M3 (Marvelous Melly Montana). After success in a few weeks, he saw his potential, and was ready and willing to take his music seriously. “I was touching the people with my music and that’s the best feeling.”

South Philly Mel’s style has a story telling like quality that is very conversational, based on the inspiration he received from rappers like Nas and Biggie. Mel’s tales come from real life. He tells tales of the streets, the stress, and the struggle of life in the hood. “The truth is something that can’t be denied, so I make it my duty to share what I’m going through in my music. It’s my therapy and I know there are millions of people around the world that can relate, because they’re dealing with the same issues in their lives.” Mel’s first solo album, True Music, was started in 2005 and finished in 2006.

Mel put his life into this album, though the promoting of it was held up due to his situation with the law. He is currently working to push this album out into the public’s view. Mel’s friend and beat maker, Don Wil, have an intense chemistry and worked together to produce this album. Don Wil helped Mel to create “that real east coast hip hop flavor” that is prevalent in this group of tracks. For future works, look for DJ illkutz to make appearances in Mel’s mixes, among others.
His future goals are many but it starts with conquering his music, making a name and gaining respect in the hip hop world. More than that Mel wants to touch lives with his music. “Music is a Universal Language that’s celebrated and comprehended all around the world and I just want the people to identify with my life, my struggle, and say o.k. this is the truth.” Eventually he wants to start a foundation for humanitarian aid.

Mel is not angsting to get signed with a major label. “I’m doing this thing for the love of hip hop. Hip hop is my life. I will make music whether I get big or not. As long as you have a good talent and the right people in your corner that believe in you and go hard for you, you can go real far, maybe even further than what a label will do for you.” In his mind it is all about the vision and that is the most important thing for him, in or out of a label. Currently he is working to expand his network of DJs and radio stations and is looking to get endorsement deals on clothing, sneakers, basically anything that involves hip hop. He is simultaneously working on a couple projects, a mixtape, No More Locked Doors, and the Home Sweet Home album. Music for Mel is the best way to escape and to express oneself. “… Just living life and telling the truth about me. Being content with who I am and where I’m trying to go with my life is what makes my music. ‘The truth shall set you free!’ And with music the truth will get you far!” ©

HipHopHead of the Month March 2010

Time and time again there comes a dark time where gray clouds cover the skies of Hip-Hop. The music that comes on the radio feeds the weak-minded. Our culture takes shots by these DJ's and dance song rappers trying to reduce it to swiss cheese. True lyricists are slept on while ringtone rappers rise higher and higher day after day. However, when things begin to look F.U.B.A.R (F**ked Up Beyond Any Repair), a strong surge rejuvinates the rap game like a beam of sunlight shining down on all of us as a sign that Hip-Hop still has warriors that fight to protect it's culture.

These warriors, both mainstream and underground, have done nothing but fight. Choosing not to dumb down lyrics for the sake of what society considers "real Hip-Hop". It is with that that we present to you an artist from the underground who truly deserves the respect of members of the Nation of Hip-Hop Heads. The same respect that was showed to artists like Young Prada, Da Hoodfellas, and AshyLBowz. May we present to you, ONLY!

ONLY is an up and coming underground MC who hails from Baltimore, Maryland. He describes himself as "a rapper's rapper and everything in the spectrum of an MC". A bold statement but he lives up to every single word. As an artist with a mission to bring "Real Rap Back" as well as to "protect and serve the culture of Hip-Hop", he uses his heartfelt lyricism and heavy hitting verses to surpass the average rapper. With a rhyme style influenced by Hip-Hop legends such as The Notorious B.I.G, Kool G Rap, Rakim, LL Cool J, Ice Cube, and N.W.A, ONLY uses his innate story-telling skills along with his unique flow and delivery to create music worthy of being referred to as Hip-Hop.

Well in accordance with Article 17 Section 4-2 of the Constitution of the Nation of Hip-Hop Heads, we hereby declare you, ONLY, "Hip-Hop Head of The Month" on this day, the first of March in this new year of 2010.

"only is a trendsetter...i was hooked on to his music once I heard "I Rap" and he told me the history behind that song which made it stand out a lil more...u gotta appreciate good music and this dude has amazing talent"
Mr. Infamy President of The Nation of HipHopHeads

ONLY has released two projects, ONLY: Truestory Vol. 1 and The Definition of ONLY, which are both available for download on DatPiff.com. He also has another project set to be released later this month titled "Stones At The Throne".

He can normally be found on Twitter (http://twitter.com/onlythakid) and MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/onlythakid) as well as on his blog, Ask Mr. ONLY (http://onlythakid.blogspot.com) which he updates regularly.

His projects and features are just proof that this is one artist that does not disappoint. All citizens in the Nation of Hip-Hop Heads need to do yourselves a favor and check him out as soon as possible. He deserves our utmost respect as an MC and may the nation congratulate him and wish him the best in his future musical endeavors.

HipHopHead of the Month Feb. 2010

The underground Hip-Hop movement has been booming recently. We have more and more unsigned hype exposing themselves to the public everyday through MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, and even InfamyTV. We are able to the MC's and producers that want to make a name for themselves in the industry but not go the route of the major labels like Def Jam, Interscope, Atlantic, or etc. It is these artists who tend to get slept on besides the fact that they makes good music, move units, all the while maintaining their image and making sure that they never forget their Underground fan basis. After all, it is the underground that makes most MC's. Well, the REAL ones anyway.
In the Nation's ever growing population, we've come across a set of MC's who push the envelope in a manner different from other MC's. They have a style of rapping that compliments one another at the same time builds on each other's lines and/or verses. They're not afraid to be different and actually represent the culture of Hip-Hop. Their comedic personalities further compliment their style and lyricism as it sounds somewhat like their not really rapping but instead just speaking to you about their views and/or experiences.

With that said, allow us to introduce, The Ashy L Bowz.
Their bio reads:The Hip Hop group the Ashy L Bowz (Ashy Elbows) are not your traditional rap duo however put aside their bizarre name, comedic personalities and outlandish stage show and you have a versatile award winning rap duo with the ability to make great songs about well….just about anything. Their debut album “No Lotion” was released on Ash Wednesday of 2008 and features Comedian Donnell Rawlings better known as Ashy Larry from the Dave Chappelle Show. The album was selected as a finalist for Rap album of the year in the 2008 Independent Music Awards.

The Ashy L Bowz are also four time Underground Music Award Nominees & 2009 Underground Music Awards Winner for Most Original Group 2008 as well as 2008 Hollywood Music Awards Nominee in the Rap/Hip Hop category, alongside Record Producer No i.d., the man behind Jay-Z’s hit song D.O.A.

The group was also crowned unsigned band of the week by High Times Magazine and runners up in the High Times Unsigned Battle of the Bands. http://www.hightimes.com/ashylbowz.

In short the Ashy L Bowz are confident and fearless lyricists (how else could you parade around hip hop with a name like that?) with a truly original and unique approach to hip hop music. The groups live performance high energy, unique, comical and above all else very entertaining. Their marketing strategies are dynamic, attention grabbing and not easy to be ignored. And their mantra of saying No to Lotion, explained simply is their disdain that most artists now a day are generic, unoriginal and content with copying a formula and sound to blend into the current music industry (like lotion). HipHopHead of the Month Jan. 2010

Through the lifespan of Hip-Hop we've seen many duo's and/or groups with MC's that spit nothing . Prime examples of these are Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Brand Nubian, N.W.A, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Little Brother, Slum Village, A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, De La Soul, . Even now we have artists coming together to form groups and duos accomplish the goal of making good music. Extremely good music. Music that when you listen to it, you can't help but feel it. Almost like it's speaking to you directly but indirectly at the same time. The kind of music that displays the skills of true MC's.

So with that said, we present "Da Hoodfellas".

Bio: Da Hoodfellas, consists of Revvy Ruger and Mr. Infamy, both are natives of Newark, NJ but the group was formed in Boston, MA in 2003. Da Hoodfellas are a product of their environment and they represent that in every song they record. The group released their first mixtape in 2006 after losing all their recording equipment to a fire in Boston in 2005. Newarks Most Wanted The Mixtape was a great breakthrough for the group but the mixtape and music came to a hault in 2007 due to Revs legal issues. Because of the content of the music and the cover, Revs lawyer advised the CD to be pulled from stores and the web until his trial was over. After a 3 year hiatus, Da Hoodfellas are back and this time they are coming correct. The newest project is called The Art of Bars and they will show you why. This whole mixtape is a concept album with all original beats. The first mixtape featured industry beats so this is a step up and it is not your average mixtape. Da Hoodfellas recorded 25+ songs for this project and picked 19 of the hottest tracks. These songs were recorded in two months under intense pressure for Rev being on trial during this project.

Well, in accordance with Article 17 Section 4-2 of the Constitution of the Nation of Hip-Hop Heads, we hereby declare you, Da Hoodfellas, "Artist of The Month" on this day, the first of January in this new year of 2010..

Being the very talented artists that they are, both Mr. Infamy and Revvy Ruger have all of the makings of a true MC. While each having their own particular style of rhyming, they happen to compliment each others style respectively. Their own unique brand of storytelling coupled with their use of punchlines and delivery gives you great music every time. They're different from your everyday MC's who spit simple "Mother Goose" rhymes over beats the deserve so much more. When you listen to them you can tell that they refuse to "dumb down" any of their lyrics. You can hear their hunger to be the best MC's that they can be. As artists who speak to Hip-Hop Culture, they bring along that balance that is always needed all the while proving that it's nothing for them to knock nouns off, song after song. An example of their great display of skill is their latest mixtape, "The Art of Bars."

"This project came together fast but it has everything we wanted to incorporate everything from being talented lyricism to being able to paint a picture with words. What more can you ask for in a Hip-Hop group?" – Mr. Infamy, President of The Nation of Hip-Hop Heads & member of Da Hoodfellas

"I like this project alot and I only wish my situation was better, but we did really good work in only 2 months"- Revvy Ruger, Member of Da Hoodfellas

"The Art of Bars" is a great project. It features great and original production as well as original lyrical content. Da Hoodfellas put their best foot forward with this mixtape and you can tell from listening to each song. Being a project focusing on a specific conceptual frame, most people would expect to get bored as they're tackling the same issues on each track. However, this is different for Da Hoodfellas because their heartfelt lyricism and storytelling paint a picture that all TRUE fans of Hip-Hop would understand and appreciate. It's a great project and it's also a great underground project to kick the New Year off right. You get great production, great MC's, and an overall excellent project. All Hip-Hop Heads should definitely pick-up a copy when available.

Hip-Hop Heads be sure to support Da Hoodfellas as well as congratulate them on a job well done for attaining the title of "Artist of The Month".

HipHopHead of the Month Dec. 2009

As we sit and observe, we notice that there are many new Hip-Hop artists emerging these days and the talent these guys have are amazing. However, like with anything else, there are particular artists that stand out more than the rest. Some artists just have that "thing" about them that sets them apart from the rest. For some it's their flow and delivery. For others, it's the metaphorical punchlines and lyricism. These artists need to be recognized for their talent and efforts. So with that said, I bring you our first ever "Artist of the Month" for December 2009.

His bio reads, "To put it simply, I feel as though I have the potential to bring the hip hop culture a new sound of rap. Since the beginning of my career I listened to a lot of underground Philadelphia artists, which I believe later on helped me create a skeleton for my craft as an artist myself. Developing Rhyme Scheme, my own flow, and my marketability was essential to making myself a perfect product and while although I am still in a developmental stage, I feel as though I'm the closest thing in PA there is to an industry artist currently. At the young age of 17, I've managed to in a one year span become lyrically comparable to some of our state's elite lyricists, and bar for bar hold my own in conversations with some of our best hip hop artists today. While I've had my hardships in life, and struggle like everyone else, I try not to let that sway me from path. I really do feel as though I am gifted to become a household name regarding hip hop legends. Which will happen in due time."

Well, in accordance with Article 17 Section 4-2 of the Constitution of the Nation of Hip-Hop Heads, we hereby declare you, Young Prada, "Artist of The Month" on this day, the first of December in the year of 2009.

"I'm basically going to tell you why I chose this kid. He's got that fire that a lot of artist lack. He is the first because he gave me the inspiration for this 'Hip-Hop Head of the Month'. There is no bullshit in what he says and when he did his freestyle over 'Run This Town' he got serious with it. He made Lil Wayne look like a first year rapper." -- Mr. Infamy, President of The Nation of Hip-Hop Heads

Prada contains all of the potential of a new up and coming MC. His style, flow, and delivery is on point and his lyricism doesn't disappoint either. His confidence that he can one day be one of he best is not misplaced or misguided as he has the talent to back it up. His sound is refreshing as it steps away from most new artists who tend to want to sound like Lil Wayne, Drake, Gucci Mane or Young Jeezy.

He also deserves recognition because he is also one of the few new artists that we have seen that are actually getting themselves out there. He has a catalog of music that he showcases on the site from songs to YouTube videos. His ingenuity is admirable and at the age of 18 he sets a good example for the rest of the new artists emerging these days.

All in all, he deserves our utmost respect as an MC. May the rest of the nation congratulate him on a job well done and wish him the best in his future musical endeavors.
